Hey there! I'm Kayla and I am a professionally trained family and wedding photographer who is located in the Peterborough area. Over the years, I have had the joy of photographing many different weddings which means, I have seen what has gone well and what could have gone better. As you begin the planning stage of one of the most exciting days of your life, I would love to share with you the inside scoop on what to look for when you're choosing someone to photograph your wedding day.

Portfolio

A vast and diverse portfolio is one of the first key things you need to look for in your photographer choice. What is your preferred style of photography? Photographers are artists and have spent years developing their own style. Create your own Pinterest board of your favourite images to get an idea of what style of photography you like and then compare to the photographer's portfolio. Do you like moody and dark images? Or do you like bright and airy? Knowing what style of images you like can really narrow down choices when choosing the right photographer for you!

Personality & Professionalism

I would argue that the single most important thing to look for when choosing your wedding photographer is compatibility. Or simply put, how well do you actually get along with them? Ask yourself, "is this someone I want with me all day on my wedding day? Can they make me feel comfortable and bring out my own personality?" Personality and professionalism are the two most important things when it comes to ensuring that your day is smooth. Your photographer will be with you all day and you want them to make you feel at ease and maybe even add a little humour along the way.

Services and client experience

Another important aspect to consider is, what services the photographer offers. It is important to hire a professional who is well trained and experienced. These photographers will have packages that they feel confident delivering. Ask yourself "do they offer what I'm looking for? What will hiring them be like?" For example, if you're having a city hall elopement style wedding, does this photographer offer a package that caters to this specific style of day?

Client experience is essential. This is similar to point number two, how do they make you feel? You should feel like their number one client from day one. Do you feel like you can reach out to them with questions or concerns? You want. a photographer who will be with you every step of the way, not just on your big day.

I like to offer a diverse range of packages so I can cater to whatever you need for your day. If you want to check out what wedding packages I offer, click the link here.
